Miami-Dade voters will get their first chance to cast an in-person ballot for the Nov. 8 election when early voting starts Monday morning at 28 polling locations throughout the county — including five more than last time.
One change that might cause confusion is that the Coral Gables Library voting location is moved to the Coral Gables War Memorial Youth Center — but it’s right across the street.
More than 107,000 registered voters have already voted with mail-in ballots that have reached the Miami-Dade Elections office, so far. That’s about a quarter of the 429,000 vote-by-mail or absentee ballots sent to voters as of last week, according to Deputy Elections Supervisor Suzy Trutie.
Of those, far more voters have been Democrats. According to the department’s unofficial voter turnout, 46,196 of the vote-by-mail ballots received back by the county are from Democrat voters while 35,575 are from Republicans. That’s going to have a lot to do with location, of course.
And as someone chided Ladra on twitter, it could be misleading. Because proportionately, when taken with the number of voters registered to each party, more GOP voters are participating.
Perhaps the most important number is the 24,000 votes cast by no-party affiliated voters.
Vote-by-mail voters will also have a chance to drop their ballots off at secure drop boxes at each of the early voting locations, which you can find here. They will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day through Nov. 6.
You can also request a vote-by-mail ballot online through Oct. 29.
